ELEMENT II:
Mastery of Your Academic Future

Sophomore

C. Bumpy transitions are not a death sentence

By now you have realized that college-level coursework is more rigorous than high school.

Hopefully, you were able to make the transition easily. However, it is not uncommon that students experience bumps in the road when making the adjustment from high school to college. This failure to adjust effectively may have resulted in less than desirable grades, but, again, there is no need to panic. Now that you realize what it takes to get "A"s you must invest the time and energy necessary to do so. Your performance in the classroom should be of paramount importance. It bears repeating: an "A" in a course may be more imperative for you than it might be for a student who does not seek a career in academia.
